Greetings my fellow crunchers! Having just finished a very successful fund raising effort, first one in over a year I might add, I thought it might be a good time to give you an update on the financial state of TD's Project Hope.
In May of last year, I assumed the responsibilities of TDPH Treasurer from Peter, ColdinCbus. After a few months of working the logistics of transferral, we decided to keep our bank account in Ohio and move the PO Box to Dallas. Our bank is Fifth Third in Columbus and we have their non-profit checking account which is totally free of all charges. They allow us to mail our deposits, which are very infrequent because most people use PayPal. They also provide us with online banking where we can view current transactions as well as historical. For those who don't know, I'm in a business that services banks and Fifth Third is highly respected.
As I mentioned earlier, we also maintain an account with PayPal that allow donors to use any of their payment methods, including credit cards and foreign currency. They do charge a fee for the service, but in the grand scheme of things, it's very nominal and give us freedoms we wouldn't otherwise have. Periodically, we transfer money from PayPal to the bank electronically and there is no cost to do this.
Those two accounts comprise all of our liquid assets, which today totals: $2,185.34. This number is always available on the TDPH web site under Financial Statement. I update that total anytime it changes, so you pretty much count on it being up to the minute (or day) accurate!
We also receive income in the form of commissions from the sale of cool stuff in our TDPH Store. IF you haven't been there lately, you might want to stop by and pick up something we all know you can't live without.
I've been working on compiling a list of TDPH membership records that we are keeping in a secure place online. This way the Chairman, treasurer, and secretary have a single place for these important records, as well as other records as needed. Someone asked once who gets to know who I am and how much I dontate? As an extra measure of safety, we keep the member list and donations lists disassociated from each other. This means that given these records, it is impossible to find out who donated what. This function of my duty weighs heavily on me, as I understand now more than ever, the need for protection of personally identifiable information. I want to assure each of you, that I hold this trust as important as any paid fiduciary would; perhaps higher because you're my friends too.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
