Full Version: will the blades have a separate username?

Id like to either ask for a vote, or suggest that the blades have a separate username (one name for all of them, like "tdprojecthope")

This way, as a whole, we can monitor their points/crunchability and their points wont go directly to one of the hosts. This way, they'll be separate from the hosts and no one gets more points then the rest of us smile.gif

Sounds like a good idea to me. I was thinking all the blades could crunch under one TDPH account. We may be able to pull the stats per node and and post them on the stats page.
lilhurricane
I agree. I think they should all be under one account. Good point, Peter. Would be nice to track this separately from the hosts. Thanks for bringing it all up, Michael. Although it's not so much the points going to the hosts, just better for record-keeping of our project. smile.gif
JMartin
Good suggestions one and all. I agree that this is the only way to go for the aforementioned reasons.

Once this audience agrees, we should pick a name that will "fit" in the stat reports and be easily recognized.

We should also decide on a blade naming convention that will allow each to be traced back to the host. This may prove useful down the road isolating problematic issues - not with the hosts of course, but region, power, etc.
bbacher
Right - I have absolutely no interest in getting the points/WUs for myself, since this is a group effort.
Caliban
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought we already voted on names for the blades. TD Mojo 1, 2, etc. and with possibly an identifier for UD or TSC. Should we vote again?
Luvfishin
I believe Caliban is correct that we had stated Mojo 1, 2 and so on.

Was it officially voted on or accepted?

I'm gld to see this project progressing so well, thanks to EVERYONE involved! smile.gif
simplykristi
I thought that the blades were going to be called MOJO 1, etc.

I certainly have no pride of ownership regarding points, and I thought the intent of my post was clear. The reason was to track problematic blades, locale, and who the host was. Stat analysis - don't care.

As to another vote, I think the real question to be answered here is, are there any objections to my suggestion.
ColdinCbus
No Objection from me Jeff. Let me clarify what I meant by having all blades crunching under one TDPH account, "TD Hope Machine" for example. All the blades are named Mojo1, Mojo2, Mojo3, etc. Those would be the node and device names for TSC and UD. I have asked the stats master if we could pull stats for each node for TSC and device installation for UD and was give a positive maybe. laugh.gif

The Idea here is that by putting all the project blades under one account, it will allow all to easily see what whole sum of the projects assets are producing. If you want the individual stats on the blades, well, I think we can and will post those on this websites stats page.

I doubt that anyone would be upset by being out produced by the mojo blades, but for those that are really following the stats, being out produced by one TDPH account may be more acceptable than being out produced even passed by 8 Mojo blades.
Luvfishin
I don't see why all the blades cannot be under one account.

However, just out of interest, it would be neat to see each blades stats and if they all run the same. It's not necessary in the grand scheme, just fun to see.

I like the idea of one main username.. say "Team Discovery Project Hope" if that's not too long and then on the stats page we can split those up to show the stats for each host and then for each blade.. should be pretty nice I think. I talked with Cbus a while ago about this and definitely agree with his ideas here.
jlandgr
Hi,
me, too, would suggest a central main name (like MOJO or whatever). In UD, you could then set up a different profile for each host. I haven't run TSC in a long while, but wasn't there the possibility to have several nodes under one username?
This way, we have both cumulative stats (under the username) and detailed stats (per profile respectively stats node).

thank you everyone for your input!

Its also good to hear that everyone agrees with me smile.gif I just didnt want to feel left out being that i dont have as many points as you all do, but rather that the blades can crunch on behalf of all of us on a separate account or accounts.

so the question still exists whether there should be multiple names or one single name.

multiple names would benefit for tracking bad parts/blades, whereas a single name would be good to track the overall progress of all of the blades, as one points/results system.

should a vote be put up? smile.gif

I like Team Discovery Project Hope... for visibility to the outside.. if it's too long a name to create, then TD Project Hope, or maybe Team Discovery PH or Mojo or.......
ColdinCbus
Team Discovery Project Hope or TD Project Hope is growing on me. Just for the reasons you stated.
JMartin
TD Project Hope is my favorite.
simplykristi
I like it. I like it. :-)

TD Project Hope...good!
JMartin
So have we reached a conclusion?

Account name: TD Project Hope
Blade name: Mojo1, Mojo2, etc.

One account for TSC and one for UD.

Is this correct?
ColdinCbus
Sounds like it to me. User name: TD Project Hope and the node and the device names will be Mojo1, Mojo2, etc. You hoasts will need to get together and decide on the shared password and what blade numbers you have.

Once you guys get that sorted out, I will get with Dersgniw and figure out what needs to be done to pull the stats for the individual nodes and device installations for the TD Project Hope account. Hopefully we can automate it so it will update without manually posting the stats each day.
JMartin
Brian Nightfall and I - the other UD host - have IM'd today and will select a common password and determine who will setup the account.
