I want to share an email that my sister sent about the "American Cancer Society Relay for Life". I know many of you already know about this event and some like Bill (MgKnight) have walked in the Survivor's Lap. I'm sharing this since we've all been impacted by cancer and I figure there is no better group to share this with. My sister has no idea I'm doing this. I haven't decided if I'll tell her since she might see it as me being nice, and I wouldn't want that. wink.gif

She, her son and many in her office (through her apparent incessant prodding) have volunteered the last 3 years. It's an overnight relay and is quite emotional with a survivors lap and a lighting of Luminaria during a Ceremony of Hope. I believe last year, she personally collected around $1,000. I give each year. I think one year I purchased a luminary in my uncle's name. Last year, I just donated in his name. You probably have a Relay in your community that you could consider walking for. Or, maybe you're looking for something to donate to. If so, feel free to go through the link below. All proceeds go to the ACS. My sister gets nothing if you donate except maybe a fuzzy warm feeling that her bro is helping her out. And YOU get the fuzzy feeling that you're donating to a good cause. smile.gif

Hello friends & family,

Here we go again! Beckett and I are walking in the Relay for Life this year – it’ll be our 3rd year walking together (with the rest of our PBS&J team). So far, it’s been an awesome, heart warming, and emotional experience. Of course, chasing Beckett around the track adds a little excitement to the evening, but I’m glad he’s been by my side and helped me to make a small difference in the fight against cancer. Beckett and I will be walking again in honor of so many people we love that have lost or won the battle against cancer – Uncle Buz, Poppop, Tami, Grandmom, Aunt Ruth, Aunt Marcia, Coralie (Ma), Yedvart, Greg, Mr. R – the list is daunting, isn’t it? I know you’ve all been affected by cancer somehow.

Can you believe that more than 1.3 million new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed in the United States this year? Those are staggering statistics, but there is hope. Each of us can do something to save lives and help those already fighting this disease. That's why Beckett and I have decided to take action against cancer by supporting the American Cancer Society Relay For Life® event right here in my community.

Relay For Life is an overnight event (June 20/21st) that brings our community together to help support the American Cancer Society and its lifesaving mission to eliminate cancer as a major health problem. The Society works hard every day to prevent cancer and save lives by supporting groundbreaking research, affecting public policies that protect us from cancer, and educating people on how to prevent or detect cancer early. The Society helps people with cancer right here in our own community. And our efforts at Relay For Life can help the American Cancer Society to keep working toward a cancer-free future.

I want to invite you to show your support in the ongoing fight against cancer by joining us for this year's event. Please click on the link below for more information, including details on the inspirational Survivors' Lap and the moving Luminaria Ceremony. We hope to see you there! If you can't join us, will you please visit the site and make a donation to support our efforts? Either way, you will make a real difference in the lives of people facing cancer and in the lives of the people who love them. Thank you!

Love, Michelle & Beckett

Mrs. Cbus and my eldest child did the 4:00 A.M. leg today (we could not talk the youngest into getting up so I stayed home, although we all did a few laps last night). My first time doing that event and it was a fun time, especially if you have young kids.
